Access Epic via Citrix site - Windows OS

The following article can be used to access Epic via our Citrix site using a web browser on a Windows computer. Due to the nature of system updates and variations in web browsers, your process may differ slightly, but this will give you a good idea of how to connect successfully.  At the bottom of this article you can find additional info.

 

Before you start please make sure you have the Citrix workspace app installed and running in the background. If it is not please use the following link "Install Citrix Workspace" to access instructions on installing the app. If unsure if the app is installed and running in the background you can confirm by Clicking the upward arrow in the bottom right-hand side, open the system tray, and confirm the Citrix workspace app is running. You may now proceed.  

 

 

 

In a web browser navigate to https://citrix.utmsa.com/ then click the "Detect Citrix Workspace app" if prompted

 

 

 

Since Citrix is already installed click the "Cancel" button, then click the "Already installed" link under download button.

 

 

 

Enter your UTHSCSA username and password then click the "Log On" button

 

 

 

Depending on whether you are on or off the network, you may or may not see the Duo two-factor authentication steps. 

 

 

 

Click on the "Epic PRD" app

 

 

 

An .ica download file should pop up or it may automatically start launching if it does not double-click on the .ica file to launch the session. 

 

 

 

Once the Epic log-in page loads log into Epic with your UTHSCSA username and password

 

 

 

Click the "Continue" button. If you need to edit the department before continuing, click on the magnifying glass select/search for the appropriate department and click the "Continue" button. You should now be inside Epic. 

 

 

 

 Helpful Information

 

  • If your account says it is blocked/locked please contact Epic support at 210-450-4800 option 1.
  • For UTHSCSA username and/or password issues please call the clinical helpdesk at 210-450-4800 option 2.
  • Access to UH Epic is handled by University Health System, If you have issues logging into the UH Epic system please call 210-358-4059. 
  • To access the UH Epic App in our Storefront you will need to be connected to our network, either hard wired to the network on campus, on the HSCWave WiFi network, or connected to the Global Protect VPN. You will then navigate to https://citrixint.utmsa.com website and you should see the added UH Epic app on the storefront.
