The following article can be used to access Epic via our Citrix site using a web browser on a Apple Mac computer. Due to the nature of system updates and variations in web browsers, your process may differ slightly, but this will give you a good idea of how to connect successfully. At the bottom of this article you can find additional info.
Before you start please make sure you have the Citrix workspace app installed and running in the background. If it is not please use the following link "Install Citrix Workspace" to access instructions on installing the app. If you are unsure if the app is installed and running in the background you can confirm by looking for the Citrix icon at the top right-hand side in the Menu Bar. You may now proceed.
In a web browser navigate to https://citrix.utmsa.com. Enter your UTHSCSA User name and Password, then click the "Log On" button
Click on the appropriate option for your situation whether you want to save the password to your keychain.
Depending on whether you are on or off the network, you may or may not see the Duo two-factor authentication steps.
Click the "Detect Citrix Workspace App" button
Please select either "Always Allow" or "Allow" button to proceed.
Since the Citrix workspace app is already installed please click on the "Already installed" link under the "Download" button
Click on the "Epic PRD" app
A download should pop up on the bottom right-hand corner of the Dock. Double-click on the download and it will start launching Epic.
If you need to utilize the microphone for Video Visits during this session you will want to click the "Allow" button, if not, you can select the "Don't Allow" button
Enter your UTHSCSA username and password and click the "Log In" button
Click the "Continue" button. If you need to edit the department before continuing, click on the magnifying glass select/search for the appropriate department, and click the "Continue" button. You should now be inside Epic.

- If your account says it is blocked/locked please contact Epic support at 210-450-4800 option 1.
- For UTHSCSA username and/or password issues please call the clinical helpdesk at 210-450-4800 option 2.
- University Health System handles access to UH Epic, If you have issues logging into the UH Epic system please call 210-358-4059.
- To access the UH Epic App in our Storefront you will need to be connected to our network, either hard wired to the network on campus, on the HSCWave WiFi network, or connected to the Global Protect VPN. You will then navigate to https://citrixint.utmsa.com website and you should see the added UH Epic app on the storefront.
