Tables: Modifying an existing table

This article will walk you through modifying an existing table. If you don't already have a table, please use our documentation called 'Creating a new table'.

1. Navigate to the page with the table you would like to modify.

2. Navigate to the bottom of the table where you see the link 'Edit' and click on it.*

*Note: You should not be in WPBakery when navigating to the 'Edit' link. View the page normally.

3.  The link will take you to the backend where the table entries can be edited and saved. Feel free to make any changes to the rows in the individual text boxes.

Manipulating Rows and Columns

Reorder Rows and Columns

To reorder rows, move the cursor over the number to the left or right side of the row and look for the crossed arrows to appear. Click and drag to move the row above or below.

To reorder columns, move the cursor over the letters at the top of the columns. Click and drag the column left or right.

Adding Rows and Columns

Navigate down to "Table Manipulation".

You will see two columns of buttons and text. The left-sided group are the controls for rows and the right are for the columns

If you would like to add rows, at the bottom of the panel, on the left side, you should see a text box that says 'Add (blank) row(s)'. Enter the number of rows you would like and click 'Add' to the right.

If you would like to add columns, at the bottom of the panel, on the right side, you should see a text box that says 'Add (blank) columns(s)'. Enter the number of columns you would like and click 'Add' to the right.

Your rows/columns will be added to the end of the table for you to edit.

Selecting Rows and Columns

To perform various actions on specific rows and columns such as delete, insert, and duplicate, you must first select the rows or columns using the checkbox to the left of the row or below the column. Any row or column selected will have any of these actions performed on them.

Deleting Rows and Columns

All navigate down to the "Table Manipulation" panel.

On the left side, you should see some buttons with the text 'Selected rows' and on the right, you should see 'Selected columns'.

The button at the end will say 'Delete'. Clicking the option on the left will delete any row you currently have selected. The right will delete any selected columns.

Inserting Rows and Columns

In the 'Table Manipulation' panel, there is an 'Insert' button to the left of the 'Delete' button for the row controls on the left side and column controls on the right.

This will insert a row at the current row number and push the rows down. For example: If you would like a new entry at row 26, select 26 from the table and click 'Insert'. This will create a new empty row at 26 and the previous entry at 26 will drop to 27 along with the rest of the rows below 26.

The right 'Insert' will insert a row at that letter and move the other columns right. For example: if you want to insert a column at B, select the B column and click 'Insert'. This will create an empty row at B and move the other columns right. The previous B row is now labeled C.

Be sure to click 'Save Changes' at the top of the page to update the table.
