Global Protect VPN: Installation (MacOS)

Global Protect Installation:

  1. Download the latest version of Global Protect for Mac OS: 
    Direct Download or https://infosec.uthscsa.edu/software-security/two-factor-enrollment

     
  2. Open the installer (Double Click)

  3. Select continue

  4. On the 'Installation Type' screen ensure 'System extensions' is checked the click continue.

  5. Enter the laptop's User Name and Password when prompted.Global Protect Installer: Laptop Password Prompt
     
  6. On the pop-up select 'Open Security Settings' 
    Note: If you do not get this pop-up. Open system Settings > Privacy & Security

  7. Scroll to the bottom and allow the Global Protect System Extension.

  8. Click the Global Protect Icon on the Menu Bar. Then enter the Gateway Address below

    Global Protect Applet: Enter the Portal Address

     
  9. You should now be able to login to Global Protect. See the Article below for further detail. If you are unable to sign in

Troubleshooting & Additional Steps:

Enable 'Full Disk Access'

  1. Click the Apple Icon in the top left of the screen. Then click 'System Settings...'

  2. On the left click 'Privacy & Security' then 'Full Disk Access'

  3. Click the slider to the right of Global Protect to enable it. The white dot should be on the right as seen below.

  4. Enter the Laptop's Password if prompted. Then select 'Quit & Reopen'

  5. Try connecting to Global Protect again. (How to connect to Global Protect)


Add Global Protect as a Login Items

  1. Click the Apple Icon in the top left of the screen. Then click 'System Settings...'

  2. On the left click 'General' then 'Login Items'

  3. Click the slider to the right of "Palo Alto Networks" to enable it. The white dot should be on the right as seen below.

  4. Enter the Laptop's Password if prompted. Then select 'Quit & Reopen'
