How to Check if 5Ghz is Supported on your Mac Computer

This article details how users can determine if their Mac computer is capable of connecting to the 5GHz Wi-Fi network.

1. Click the Apple icon in the top left corner > Select About this Mac.
2. Click System Report > Select Wi-Fi under Networks and look for Supported PHY Modes.

Please note the above instructions version of MAC OS that is currently running on your computer.  For earlier versions of the OS click on the Apple icon > About this Mac > More Info > System Report > As above, click on Wi-Fi underneath Networks > Look for Supported PHY Modes.

Any Device that shows 802.11a, 802.11ac, or 802.11ax will support 5Ghz Wireless spectrum.
